Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč

The Euphrasian Basilica was erected in the 6th century, in the period of bishop Euphrasius and the emperor Justinian. It is the most beautiful monument of early Byzantine art in the Mediterranean.

In 1977, UNESCO included it in its World Cultural Heritage list. The glittering mosaics that decorate the interior and facade of the church are considered to be the most beautiful preserved works of Byzantine art and will delight all history lovers as well as lovers of this kind of art.
