Drunk railway (Pijana pruga)
Do you know about the famous Istrian "Drunk Railway"?
Istrians built the Pijana pruga between 1948 and 1951 to transport coal between Lupoglav and Štalije. The railway runs not far from the medieval settlement of Kožljak and it has been out of service since 2009.
Exactly how did this railway get its nickname?
Because of the collapse of the terrain in this area, the railway tracks have tilted and appear to be swaying, which is why the railway got such a funny name.
