As part of this year's Pula Cultural Summer, the opera "Tosca" by Gicaomo Puccini will be held on July 23 at 9 p.m. This opera directed by Croatian National Theater Ivan pl. Zajca Rijeka follows the boisterous opera singer Floria Tosca, who deals with feelings of passion and jealousy in Rome and the newly formed republic.
The Pula amphitheater, better known as the Arena, is a true treasure of history and one of the most significant architectural achievements of ancient civilization. Located in the heart of the city of Pula, this impressive building bears witness to the time when Istria was under the rule of the Roman Empire.
The arena was built in the 1st century and could accommodate over 20,000 spectators, which is a testament to its magnificent capacity. This amphitheater was used for gladiator fights and various public spectacles, and today it is a popular tourist attraction and the venue for numerous concerts, film festivals and cultural events.
The unique construction of the Arena, made of local limestone, offers a striking picture with a view of the Adriatic Sea. Despite time and historical turbulence, the preservation of this amphitheater is exceptional.
