Gerschwin's opera "Porgy and Bess" returns to the stage of the Metropolitan Opera for the first time since 1990, under the new direction of James Robinson. The American "popular work", as its creators defined it in 1935, is the story of the invalid beggar Porgy, played by Eric Owens, and his love for drug addict Bess, played by Angel Blue.
